Death
by Modern Medicine: Seeking Safe Solutions-eBook, 2008
This book goes far beyond the statistics of deaths due to
drugs. It shows how the allopathic medical monopoly has created
a Health Care system that fails to encourage good health,
especially by prevention. "Death by Modern Medicine"
documents the tales of propaganda, health care bureaucracy,
and the focus on profits instead of healing. It shows, statistically,
that the number 1 killer in North America, is in fact, one
of the most heavily regulated products, services and facilities
industry in North America - The Allopathic Medical Industry.
In this second edition of Death by Modern Medicine, Dr. Dean
points to the future of natural health care and how we can
take responsibility for our health and have access to safe
organic supplements even in these trying times.

The
Magnesium Miracle-Ballentine, 2007
Amazon Review:
Magnesium is extremely important for good health. Yet for
far too many years this vital mineral has been largely overlooked
by most doctors. Shockingly, most laboratory blood tests do
not even measure magnesium status although magnesium is involved
as an essential factor in more aspects of health than any
other mineral. Since magnesium status is rarely measured,
most doctors don't know when their patients are deficient
in magnesium, even though about 80% of Americans are deficient
in this essential mineral. And magnesium deficiency is a significant
factor -- often the primary factor -- in many severe illnesses
including heart attacks and other forms of heart disease,
high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, anxiety and panic attacks,
depression, fatigue, migraines and other headaches, osteoporosis,
insomnia, and most cases of muscular problems.
Because magnesium deficiency is largely overlooked, millions
of Americans suffer needlessly from the foregoing ailments
or are having their symptoms treated with expensive drugs
(which often have unpleasant or dangerous side effects) when
they could be cured with magnesium supplementation. This excellent
and easily-readable new book by Dr. Dean (an up-to-date revision
and expansion of her ground-breaking book The Miracle of Magnesium)
discusses these and other important aspects of this vital
mineral in detail. Everyone who is concerned about his or
her health should acquire and read this very important book,
even if you already own its earlier version. So should their
doctors. And the vast majority of Americans should increase
their magnesium intake by suitable diet and appropriate supplementation
as Dr. Dean recommends. Those who do will very likely find
themselves free of many ailments they may now have.
IBS
for Dummies-Wiley, 2005
Jeffrey D. Roberts, Founder, Irritable Bowel Syndrome Association
says IBS for Dummies is "A well researched encyclopedia
about Irritable Bowel Syndrome". His review on Amazon.com
continues with the following accolades for this book. "IBS
For Dummies is likely the most complete and current book about
IBS that has been written to date for the non-medical reader.
It covers pretty well every topic and aspect about the illness
and it does it very well. The book reads easily from cover-to-cover
or as a reference from chapter to chapter. This book is for
sufferers or for anyone who wants to learn more about this
chronic illness. Certainly well worth the read and as an addition
to your personal IBS book library."
From
10-20 percent of Americans suffer from IBS. It's another disease
of civilization and lifestyle run amok. There are no medications
for IBS and the natural medicine approach is treatment there
is for this condition. Diet, herbs, vitamins and minerals,
and EFT are all described in detail along with a dozen triggers
that you can learn to avoid. This timely guide features information
on the nature of the disease and how it affects the body,
covering symptoms, triggers, and the diseases that are often
confused with (or can be combined with) IBS. It explains how
to find a doctor, understand the diagnosis, and handle the
emotional and financial challenges, and presents healthy nutrition
guidelines, viable treatment options, and new research trends
and drugs. Because IBS is a functional disease we offer many
alternatives to drugs. Dr. Dean co-authored this book with
her sister L. Christine Wheeler.

The
Yeast Connection and Women's Health-Square One Publishing,
2005
Dr. Dean is the medical advisor to yeastconnection.com. She
co-authored the Yeast Connection and Women's Health with the
late Dr. Crook.
Dr.
Dean recognized the work of Dr. William Crook and The Yeast
Connection very early in her practice. She treated Candida,
had a Candida antibody testing lab, and was on the board of
the Candida Foundation for many years. Dr. Dean lectured widely
on Candida and the myriad conditions and symptoms it could
produce, trigger, and exacerbate. These include chronic fatigue
syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, multiple sclerosis - in
fact, most chronic conditions can have an element of Candida
overgrowth because the body is in a weakened immune state.

THE YEAST CONNECTION AND WOMEN'S HEALTH
INTRODUCTION by Dr. Dean
If I told you that there is a living fungus trapped in your
intestines that spews out180 chemical toxins capable of shutting
down your thyroid, throwing your hormones off balance, causing
you to crave sugar and alcohol, all of which make you put
on weight, would you believe me? Chances are you absolutely
would not. Such a devastating condition should be headline
news. Moreover, every high tech research lab in the country
should be frantically searching for a cure. Unfortunately,
that's far from the case. But what I'm saying is true, and
I'm so convinced about it that it's the basis for a completely
new section in this book. A section that is devoted to weight
and the yeast connection.
If you've been shuffling from doctor to doctor in search of
answers to health problems, including weight gain, that have
been plaguing you, perhaps for years, you've come to the right
place. I don't have to tell you that not many doctors know
about the yeast connection! From the time Dr. William Crook,
or "Billy" as his friends knew him, published The
Yeast Connection in 1983, he suffered professional ridicule
and ostracism for his theories about the connection between
candida yeast overgrowth and a wide variety of seemingly unconnected
physical ailments. Unfortunately, modern allopathic, or conventional,
medicine has abandoned many people who have genuine problems
with yeast overgrowth. But doctors like Billy Crook kept bringing
hope to thousands of people desperate for answers to their
problems.
In my years of conventional medical training, I was taught
only that yeast causes vaginitis and, on the opposite extreme,
it causes a life threatening blood infection in patients with
advanced cancers or AIDS. Fortunately, I studied yeast overgrowth
as part of my naturopathic training in the early 1980s after
I graduated from medical school. From the time I entered practice,
I treated yeast in my patients with remarkable results. Then
one day in 1986, I had the honor of being a guest with Dr.
Crook on a Canadian television show. During our 90-minute
program on yeast, the station tabulated an astounding 80,000
people clamoring to ask questions! After that show, the treatment
of yeast occupied an even greater part of my medical practice.
By 1991, I had treated more than 2,000 cases of the disease
and I began to call yeast overgrowth, Crook's Candidiasis.
I know that it was Dr. Crook's life's dream for this condition
to be accepted by the medical community and I'm honored to
be able to help achieve this.
So what is Crook's Candidiasis? In the simplest of terms,
it encompasses overgrowth of yeast stimulated by excessive
intake of sugar and overuse of antibiotics that leads to yeast
invading the GI tract and creates leaky gut syndrome; yeast
allergy with burning and itching; and widespread reactions
due to the toxic yeast byproducts. These terms may not be
part of your vocabulary right now, but they will be by the
time you've finished reading this book.
Crook's Candidiasis is not new, but the rise of this insidious
set of health problems is directly related to the advent of
antibiotics about 60 years ago. I'm not trying to say that
antibiotics are all bad, but the pervasive use of antibiotics
for viruses, for which they are completely ineffective. Also,
when they are used to encourage weight gain in livestock they
become part of our food supply and help create the current
epidemic of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Just take a minute
to consider what I just said. It is an industry-wide policy
to give antibiotics to livestock because it makes them gain
weight. Well, I'm telling you that the same thing happens
in humans.
As I will explain in Chapter XX destroying the normal balance
of bacterial flora in the intestines and encouraging yeast
overgrowth leads to weight gain that's very difficult to lose
-unless you target yeast. In the past 50 years, we have ruthlessly
bombarded the delicate ecology of our intestines with drugs
that invisibly, but absolutely, encourage Crook's Candidiasis.
Part of turning that tide is to replace those chemicals with
natural products and work with diet and natural antifungals
to eliminate yeast.
Please
enjoy this latest edition of Yeast Connection and Women's
Health, especially the new section on weight. I hope in some
small way it helps carry on Dr. Crook's tremendous work.
